Washing soda is a powerhouse against stubborn grease and grime—no harsh chemicals needed! Perfect for DIY recipes or for tackling tough messes solo.
Available in 1kg and 3kg quantities
Washing soda has been used for centuries as a safe cleaning ally, it is also call Sodium Carbonate. A stronger alkaline cleaner, it's considered the big brother cleaner of baking soda with a step up in cleaning power. It's multipurpose and can be used for extra grease cutting, deodorising and water softening if you have high water minerals.
It's an essential main ingredient in everyday cleaning products like laundry washing where it works with soap for better results. For big cleaning jobs, like cleaning the oven it's extra handy for dissolving built up grime without the need for caustic, stinky oven cleaners!
Washing soda has been used as a cleaner for a long time, therefore it's recognised as non-toxic and is a trusted natural cleaning agent. This is the soda ash dense form of washing soda - it is stronger with more cleaning power compared to washing soda crystals or laundry soda. This means you use less and get better cleaning results.
Washing soda is best dissolved in warm to hot water. Typically 20g per litre is a good amount for general cleaning. This can be increase to 40-60g for bigger messes. Considered septic tank and waterway safe.
20g is approximately 1 Tablespoon.
Use in the laundry: Add extra oomph for pre-soaking very dirty clothing like sports gear, tea towels and grotty sneakers. Great for removing odours to the likes of dog bedding.
General cleaning:Â Add a few tablespoons to a bucket of hot water, this can be used to wipe down all hard surface areas that need a clean up. Think kitchen cabinets, walls, chilly bin & the old caravan. Can be mixed with Castile soap to aid cleaning. If you have sensitive skin you may wish to use gloves for more contact time.
Soaking to dissolve built up grime:Â Use 2-3 tablespoons in a container with 1-2 tablespoons Home cleaning castile soap. This is perfect for soaking oven trays and racks before giving a scrub. Can be used to help keep drains clear, dissolve 2-3 tablespoons in a small amount of hot water and pour down the drain, leave for an hour and flush with boiled water. Washing soda is also called Sodium carbonate. Figgy & Co. Washing soda is the soda ash dense type of sodium carbonate.
This is the dry, concentrate powder form of washing soda – this is different to washing soda crystals that you can buy at the supermarket and hardware store. The crystals have a high water content – this means they are diluted compared to our dry concentrated powder, it also means in homemade laundry powder recipes what you make will be damp and clumpy, because of the water content in the crystals.
Available in 1kg and 3kg amounts. Packaged in a plain paper bag suitable for home compost or curb side recycling

It’s a question we often get asked. While both are the same chemical, Sodium carbonate, the are made differently. Our washing soda is NOT the same as washing soda crystals. Our washing soda is a dry powder that is very concentrated. Soda crystals look like crystal chunks and have a high water component & are not as concentrated and so clean less effectively.
Unfortunately, no. All our recipes were developed using our concentrated dry powder also know as soda ash dense. Washing soda crystals will not give the same result. When crystals are used in laundry powder and dishwasher powder recipes, they clean less effectively and get damp and clumpy.

Works well cleaning my nappies and that’s a tough job!
This is amazing for making my cleaning products. It is very fine and doesn’t clump when I leave it in a glass jar. Best I have found on the market
