Figgy Laundry Powder
4 parts washing soda (2 cups)
4 parts baking soda (2 cups)
1 part borax (1/2 cup)
1/2 part Figgy liquid cleaning soap (1/4 cup)
20-40 drops essential oil to your liking (lavender, peppermint, lemon, tea tree etc.)
Mix all dry ingredients in food processor. Slowly add liquid cleaning soap, followed by essential oil until fine grains. Scrape down the sides of the processor bowl at least once. Use 1 tablespoon per load. For heavily soiled loads, use 1-2 tablespoons. Store in an airtight container. Remember, less is more.
Figgy Nappy Wash + Soak
2 parts washing soda (1 cup)
1 part borax (1/2 cup)
2 parts oxygen bleach (1 cup)
1 part citric acid (1/2 cup)
Optional: Figgy bar soap (1/2 a bar grated)
Mix together and store in an airtight container. For soaking nappies, dissolve 2-3 tablespoons per bucket. For daily washing, 2-3 tablespoons per load.
Figgy suggests that for the cleaning of cloth nappies cold rinse first to remove excess urine, etc. Follow with a warm-hot wash using Figgy Nappy Wash with 6 drops tea tree essential oil added to the bowl and white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser. Line dry.
Figgy Laundry Liquid
1 Figgy bar soap grated
2 litres water
½ cup washing soda
1/2 cup borax
4 litres hot water
20 drops essential oil
Melt grated soap into first measure of water over a low heat. In a separate bucket, dissolve washing soda and borax into the second measure of hot water. Combine your well-dissolved soap mix into this bucket. Once cooled, add essential oil to your liking. Store in this bucket if it has a lid, or decant into plastic containers. This mixture will thicken over the next 24 hours. Use ½ cup per load of laundry.
Figgy Laundry Soaker
1 part baking soda (1 cup) 1 part oxygen bleach (1 cup)
Mix together and store in an airtight container. Dissolve 1/4 cup per bucket or warm water.
Laundry Softener
Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar per load to the fabric softener dispenser. Essential oil are optional for scent at this point.
