If your hands are dry & need some TLC then glycerine is perfect for your homemade foaming soap. Ideal for those with healing dermatitis or eczema, the boost of moisture will be soothing. The job of glycerine when added to a hand wash is to pull extra moisture to the surface of the skin, helping to relieve dryness and irritation. Adding glycerine is perfect if you wash your hands a lot or are transitioning away from detergent hand wash and have irritation that is still settling.

Vegetable glycerine locks in moisture!
Glycerine is found in all natural soaps, including Figgy's soaps. This is one of the reasons why soaps are more gentle on skin. However, there are times when skin is dry and irritated - especially when detergents are used for handwashing, during times of healing your skin will benefit from an extra moisture boost.
Vegetable glycerine adds a touch of luxury to your DIY cleaners and help your skin stay moist and smooth. Glycerine possesses water-binding properties, helping to maintain the structure and water content of your skin. For this reason it is ideal to add to foaming hand soap, especially if your skin is suffering from dermatitis or eczema and is still recovering from irritation and inflammation.

Glycerine is a thick, colourless liquid and belongs to a class of ingredients called humectants. These moisture retaining ingredients are in many store bought products, however to keep cost down they are often derived from palm oil or are synthetic. This glycerine is the best of both worlds - plant based and palm oil free.

This glycerine is plant derived, a blend of rapeseed and soybean glycerines.
Not all glycerines are free from palm oil as an input. Palm oil containing products are intensifying deforestation and causing the decline in Orangutan numbers in the wild.

How to use Glycerine at home
Glycerine is added to formulations to help retain moisture, it can also help mix oil and water phases together.
Foaming hand soap: Add 5ml if require to your foaming hand soap. Add soap, essential oils and glycerine first to help the oil combine, then add water.

- Store glycerine in its labelled bottle with the lid on tightly
- Store out of sunlight
- Store out of reach of kids and pets.
