Salt is a great food safe scrub

Because it’s on hand in every kitchen, we reckon salt is the ideal no-fuss neutral scrub

Salt is pH neutral which makes it useful to scrub out a cast iron pan stuck with egg or for giving your chopping board a delicious smelling deep clean with half a lemon. It’s just the right amount of scrubbing and it’s all natural!

Salt has been used in the home for thousands of years. And the great thing about it is it does a great job, is easy to reach for and there couldn't be a safer cleaner.

Use salt as a scrub in the kitchen - particularly good for chopping boards and cast iron pans. Sprinkle onto a chopping board and scrub with a brush or half a lemon. Then sprinkle onto weeds outside to stop them in there tracks! Great for washing your vegetables to get rid of any insects that may be lurking!

How to use

How to use salt at home

The great thing about salt is how safe it is. Salt is best as a scrub on a damp but not wet surface.

Deep clean chopping board: sprinkle with salt then rub over with a brush or half a lemon. rinse and let air dry. Oil if desired

Cast iron pan: After scrubbing out loose food, sprinkle with a Tablespoon of salt and scrub again in the areas where the food has stuck. Rinse clean, oil once dry.

Vegetable wash: Soak veg in a sink of cold water and 1-2 Tablespoons salt for 10 minutes. perfect for removing unwanted dinner guests.

Pathway weeds: Sprinkle salt directly onto weeds that have sprung up in concrete cracks. will take 1-2 days to take effect.

Use in DIY cleaning recipes: Follow instructions in the Figgy cleaning recipe booklet. Make your own toilet bombs.

Storage & Safety:

Please remove your powder from the bag it arrives in and store airtight. Powders can clump so best stored air tight and away from humidity.

Store your cleaners safely and clearly label all containers for identification. Dry ingredient labels are available for your home storage containers

Strictly store out of reach of children and pets.

While salt is a food, please do not consume this salt as we can not rule out inadvertent cross contamination with our other dry ingredients as they are stored in close proximality.

No, it's best not to—this salt is food-grade but it isn’t suitable for cooking. It’s intended for cleaning use only because we store it in close proximity to our other cleaning powders and there could be cross contamination, though we try out best to avoid that.

Keep your salt dry by storing it in a well sealed container. Salt absorbs moisture easily which will make it damp and clumpty. So make sure your container is airtight.
